My Top Ten Most Anticipated TV Shows of 2025

We are officially three days into 2025! As exciting as the movies are this year, 2025 is about to deliver an all-time year for TV. Four of probably my ten favorite shows of all time are releasing new seasons, alongside some great new series that I have high hopes for. Stranger Things is ending this year, and I just can't believe that. You know it's going to be a great year for TV when there's enough shows I'm excited about that I can make a most anticipated list. That said, here are my ten most anticipated TV shows of 2025.

10. Wycaro 339

For those who don't know, this is a science fiction series from Vince Gilligan, creator of both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The series doesn't actually have a name, but Wycaro 339 is the working title. It is set to star Rhea Seehorn, who played Kim Wexler on Better Call Saul. I know basically nothing about this show besides the information I just relayed, but that's enough to get me pumped. I haven't seen any of Vince Gilligan's work outside of the Breaking Bad universe, but that's really what's kept him busy for the past fifteen years. I am interested to see what else he can do, and I hope that this series is awesome.

9. Wednesday Season 2

I enjoyed the first season of Wednesday. I thought Jenna Ortega was magnetic as the titular character, and, while I don't always love Tim Burton, I thought he brought a really fun world to life. The first season felt a little bit soap opera-y, but there were enough fun moments and intriguing plot lines to keep me invested. I thought that Wednesday herself was the best part of the show, and I'm excited to see more of her, so that's really enough to get me excited for the second season.

8. Cobra Kai Season 6 (Part 3)

The sixth season of Cobra Kai has been a pretty mixed bag, but that doesn't mean I'm not excited to see the true final stretch of this show. This has been one of the most popular series of the past six years, and it is crazy to me that it's actually ending. I haven't really experienced the end of a show like this. Most of the shows I watch have been released in their entirety, but I've been with Cobra Kai since season three debuted. My expectations have been tempered with the slight disappointment that the first two parts of this final season were, but I am looking forward to seeing how they close things out (and how they lead into that movie with Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio).

7. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2

I didn't love the first season of Percy Jackson, but this show will always appear on my most anticipated list because I love the books. The first season was decent (and better than the movie), but this is where I am excited to see where the show goes. The Lightning Thief has been adapted into a somewhat faithful movie, but The Sea of Monsters movie is nothing like the book. This is the first time that a true adaptation of the second book will be produced, which I am very, very excited to see. I am hoping that it is a bit better than the first season, because there were some things I was not crazy about, so my fingers are crossed going in.

6. The Bear Season 4

I watched the first two seasons of The Bear last year, and I absolutely adored it. The first season is absolutely incredible, but season two is on my list of all-time favorite TV seasons. Season three? Disappointing. I thought it was directionless and felt like the creators were getting a bit too artsy and exchanging that for compelling story. However, I am still very excited for the fourth season. I hope they can get back on track a little bit and return to what made the show great in the first two seasons.

5. It: Welcome to Derry

Stephen King is my favorite author, and It is one of his best properties. I like both parts of the new adaptation, and I am very curious to see where they are going to take this show. Recent Stephen King adaptations have been pretty solid with It, Doctor Sleep, Gerald's Game...but this may be the first King spin-off that I have heard of. It lends itself to a spin-off, however, because there is so much lore and history behind Pennywise, so I look forward to seeing them explore that in this series.

4. Daredevil: Born Again

I have only seen the first season of Daredevil (and I plan to watch the other two), but I really, really dug it. The MCU often goes for big spectacle, but the Marvel Netflix shows (that do take place in the MCU) have been very much street-level. I really love that type of show, and I am very excited to see them return to that with Born Again. The tiny teaser that we got seemed to suggest that Daredevil would be teaming up with Kingpin, and that very much caught my attention. I have cautious optimism when it comes to this show because MCU TV has a spotty track record, but this is really the most excited I've been about an MCU project in a minute.

3. The Last of Us Season 2

The Last of Us absolutely blew me away with an incredible first season, and I have been eagerly awaiting the second season. Basically every HBO show that I have seen has been great, and The Last of Us is another one of those. People seem to love The Last of Us Part II (the game) so I expect this season to live up to that bar. I have no clue where this story is going, but I cannot wait to see.

2. Severance Season 2

Severance was another one of these shows that absolutely knocked it out of the park in the first season. It was this weird, eerie thriller paired with a super cool sci-fi concept. The first season sets up all of these crazy strange mysteries that I am very curious about...and it ends on a huge cliffhanger. I have been waiting for this season for what feels like ages. I cannot wait to see the answers to so many of the mysteries that were set up in the first season. It should be awesome.

1. Stranger Things Season 5

There are very few movies and TV shows that I have been as excited for as I was for Avengers: Endgame. Stranger Things season five rivals that level of excitement. This is my favorite TV show of all time. I have been with Stranger Things since the beginning, and I think every season is great. Like many, I have just been on the edge of my seat since those last two episodes of season four dropped. It has been a long, long wait, but we are finally getting the end of Stranger Things next year, and I am just so pumped. Hopefully this season will land the ship nicely, because if it does, Stranger Things will go down as one of the all-time greats.
